The motorized version of the PM4 consists of a cassette module and aluminium profile base elements construction. This flexible configurable (in its length) unit is specially designed to inspect long spinnerets with e.g. 17.000 capilliaries fully automatic. A portal construction is assembled on precise grinded linear bearings. Due to the usage of an linear scale, the portal can be positioned very precisely. The motor control is built in at the center of the base frame. The spinneret held vertically by several stable clamping blocks.
The compact measuring computer and the light sources are integrated in the portal. The cables are guided by a solid cable carrier along the linear axis.

This design makes it possible to show the capillary or the counterbore on the screen and enables ergonomical manual cleaning by the operator. The positions of the capillaries are detected by a scanning camera with large field of view in a short time. During the scan, the spinneret is already checked for cleanliness and blockage. A second microscope tube is used to measure all, dirty or randomly selected capillaries very accurate in high magnification. During the inspection or an alignment process, the bending of the spinneret is compensated by autofocus.

A software command blows out the loosened dirt by compressed air. The counterbore can also be inspected by joystick and the motorized z-axis within the entire focus range.

The behavior of standard- and non-crimp fabrics in forming and draping is of importance in any production process of non-flat, fabric-reinforced composite parts.As a standardized simulation of the draping process a flat circular sample of the fabric to be

Image analysis technology developed at the Faserinstitut Bremen (FIBRE) allows the automatic detection of faults.
